There are a few things on my mind today. A few people. Sometimes we can remember things so vividly. It was almost around this time the year before last I got an MSN message.
"Providing the truck is out of the shop by noon, I should be heading out by 1 or 2, I’ll be there just after supper."
As the day went on more and more delays got in the way. In the end the weather and the repairs held him back. Then work called him in… He wasn’t going to make it for New Years.
The similar thing happened around my birthday, only it was work that locked him down from visiting. My last living memory is phone calls, and before that a visit in September. We had the best talk I think we had ever had sitting in my kitchen. We talked about life, talked about all of the changes. I poured my heart out about some of the things going on I just couldn’t share with anyone else and he listened. Saturday morning we went to Breakfast at Cora’s, Sunday morning he was gone before I even got out of bed, even though I asked him to wake me to say goodbye…
He springs to mind today because just around this time of year we would always talk on the phone for more than an hour about the year ahead, about our plans to visit. I would plead for more than an hour all the reasons he should be here for New Years and there was always an obligation. But that was who he was. Everyone else before himself. Including his friends. He may not have been able to travel the miles all the time, but he had no trouble picking up the phone when he was needed. The most centred and unselfish person I ever knew.
I miss him today more than ever. I can close my eyes and still hear his laughter..
So in the new year, let us not forget those that have impacted our lives and continue to everyday. Even though friendships can stretch across miles and lifetimes, our lives have more meaning because of them. So tonight when I raise my glass, I celebrate Friendship!

Christmas has come and gone. Got to spend time with family and friends. It all went by in a blink. I got some nice gifts. I’m thankful for all of them. Dinner was good. Maybe I went over on points by about 5 each day, but that is better than breaking the bank completely! I enjoyed myself. Wanted to go to the gym today to try out the new sneakers, but it’s closed. :( I guess I’ll be going tomorrow after work.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday. Oddly hearing Adam Sandler sing his Hanukah song on the Wave made me want to post a seasonal message.
We had an excellent time at the swap last night. After an odd weekend it was closed off with a good gathering of friends and lots of laughter. Looking forward to New Years with everyone. I send special wishes to those friends who can’t be home with their families for Christmas. But we will see you very soon!

I have to work a half day on Monday… and I doubt very much anyone will be in paying their taxes, so today is pretty much my last day before Christmas Vacay. Looking forward to plans I have on the weekend. There is lots to do for the dinner on Sunday. Have to make time on Saturday to cook the Ham. Yum yum. Mike and Cole can’t make it due to work schedules, so I want them to know that they are in my thoughts, and will be missed!
This week has been rather insane, between work, gym and the odds and ends I had to get done this week…I’ve had very little time to just chill. There was a death in my Family on Wednesday morning, and the Funeral is tomorrow, however I do not plan on going. I don’t have to go to the service to show my respect for my late cousin. He’s in my thoughts.
Went with Chris last night to help him finish the last of his shopping which is an annual tradition, however I think we went too early because we didn’t get finished. But he’ll have to go out with his brother and finish up. I have to pick up a few odds and ends, which I will do on Christmas Eve.

I’ve been meaning to post a picture of my tree. It’s been a hectic week starting the new job, incorporating a new work out routine. But all in all I have survived and feel pretty satisfied with all the changes happening, even if at once. So without further adieu….
My Tree
Joining the new fitness club is already paying off it might seem. That and just overall watching what I eat and how active I am.
Lost another 2.6lbs today. Puts me awfully close to my 40lbs loss…. so close… so close. I have 12lbs to lose to achieve my Birthday goal. I know I can do it.
Just wanted to share this week’s small victory. 
I have some photos of the tree and decorations. When I have time to post them later tonight I will.
I start the new job tomorrow. Security clearance came back today. Very excited. This week has gone by in a blink. Lots of things taken care of which is a bit of a relief to me. Spent some time with Chris finishing up my decorating. It was fun. I can’t remember the last time we got a chance to spend some time together doing something like that.
Went for a short but sweet walk last night in the cold. Note to self… it’s winter… it’s cold. Don’t try that again!
Started at Nubodys today. Spent more time than I should have on the Elliptical trainer I think. I burned around 800… yes 800 calories. It felt good, but I know my thighs of all places are going to kill me tomorrow. Going to try to get back in there tomorrow after work. I’ll finish just in time to head out shopping with Matt.
Busy busy. I like it.
Lots of peeps have Christmas parties and such this weekend. Enjoy yourselves and don’t drink and drive.
Got down to start the new job today. Wasn’t informed it would only be my security check detail today. So I wrapped that up around 10. Just got home. Heading to the gym a bit later. Since I ended up with a few more free days, I feel sort of lost since I had myself all ready to be back in routine. Ahh well a few more days to get the house in order for Christmas won’t hurt.
Determined to get my portraits done tonight. We’ll see if that happens.
