Slow and Steady

It’s been awhile since I’ve updated. I’ve started blogging on a WW message board about my weekly goals. I may move them here too. We will see what time allows.

I’m up super early today because we have Safety training at the Refinery a 7:30am. But because of the time change my body thinks it’s up later than earlier, so far it isn’t that bad!

I wanted to update my changes since going back to WW.

Week two… and good things

This is all good stuff.

One of my best friends is in labor as we speak. Very excited to meet their new son!

Another great friend is celebrating his birthday tonight. Should be a wonderful time. Hurricane Earl turned out to be a dud, so even though the weather wasn’t terrible, I did opt to stay in. I made my first batch of blueberry jam, which I must say turned out awesome! I’m very proud of myself. Don’t be surprised if you all don’t get jams for Christmas. :)

Now onto more exciting news:

Weigh in: 222.8lbs

Chest: 45.5 inches

Waist: 43.5 inches

Hips: 50 inches

I think measuring with a measuring tape is going to be what satisfies me this time around. I really love seeing those #’s change. But I had an excellent week at WW, wish me luck on week two now that it’s becoming more routine!

Week one almost done!

Hurricane Earl is risking me not making my first weigh in tomorrow morning. *shakes fist at the sky*

I’m going to do what I can to get there tomorrow morning, from what every media outlet is saying I should be alright to get out first thing, it’s later in the day that is going to be wicked.

So this week I diligently used WW E-tools that come with the monthly membership. It’s been a very useful tool. I’m eager to see the results. One of the major reasons is because I used 1 flex point and had a hard time eating all my points everyday. This was a struggle because I really wasn’t hungry so I didn’t want to force them. Once I see how this translates on the scale it will let me know if I have to add something to my meals to get those extra few points in. Be it margarine or cheese or more protein.

I did a fair bit of walking this week. Really need to pick up a pedometer or a pedometer app for my Blackberry. See how much movement I am getting in.

Enough of the self analysis. It’s a long weekend! Earl is on the way, hopefully it isn’t too intense. Chris W’s Bday dinner is on Sunday evening. Asian themed… I’m eager to make pot stickers! I’ll report tomorrow with measurements and weigh in results.

Wish me luck.

All stocked

The fridge and cupboards are stocked! I bought lots of yummy items. Find myself excited to eat all week. Somehow this might seem counter productive but when I have to cook, I enjoy the taste of things so much more.

Set up my E-tools for WW. I totally love the Recipe Builder and the online tracker… I’m going to try to use it for the week and see how it goes. I should be able to access it from work as well so I can look stuff up. That will nice.

I’m eager to see how this first week goes. I’ve promised myself I won’t get on the scale until I weigh in on Saturday, I will also measure every two weeks.

Thanks for coming along on this journey with me. :)

Starting over

After a calling from deep within I joined Weight Watchers yesterday. Since 2007 I have been going off and on. At my most successful I lost just under 50lbs. Most of which I have kept off.

I was very surprised to see that since I stopped going in the late spring early summer, I have only gained 3 pounds back. In my mind… it felt like all of the weight I had ever lost came back.

I decided to make use of this blog space by chronicling my journey, and being loyal to posting. This is a commitment I’m making to myself. Of course comments, feedback and all that fun stuff will obviously make it much more fun for me to use this forum, so please…let it be interactive.

Without further adieu:

Weigh in: 225.6lbs

Chest: 46.5 inches

Waist: 44 inches

Hips: 51 inches

Now that these numbers are out there… there is no hiding from them.

Let’s see how this journey goes.

Get back to where I once belonged

So what I quoted the Beatles..

Starting back at WW on Saturday. I’m pretty excited. I’ve already started to purge stuff from the house that I don’t want around and have made my first grocery list! I’m pretty excited. Something clicked in my head over the past few weeks and I know now I’m back in the headspace to continue on this journey. Expect posts here about my exercise, weight and perhaps even measurements. It’s another form of accountability.

Don’t worry I’ll share the yummy healthy recipes too!

In other news, we are still anxiously awaiting the birth of my God-daughter. She is due anytime. I can’t wait to meet her! Summer is almost over…wtf? I can’t believe it! But I did get to Kings Landing, we had a few fun gatherings of friends. Over all, a decent summer. Now I’m looking forward to fall clothes shopping! It’s my favorite season.

G and I plan on rounding up folks for apple picking. Looking to do that in mid September. Found a few U-Picks, one most notably in Kingston so not too far away.

So I have a small dilemma.. I have 3 days vacation left.

What should I do with them?

midsummer night’s dream

I’ve been busy over the summer. Well it feels that way anyway. Between movies, birthdays and summer like fun seems the only time I get to relax is the occasional Sunday. Aha, and look it’s a Sunday!

In recent weeks I’ve gone to see Inception, which I highly recommend to everyone! It does make the Matrix look like a Dick and Jane book! So it’s money well spent, perhaps even for a second time to decipher more of it.

I took in the Buskers on Friday night with friends, they were enjoyable as they are every year. It was great because the weather really held up for them 3 out of their 4 days here.

We celebrated Pam’s birthday last weekend. Everyone had  a great time.

So now as we creep in to August…I’m in Halifax the end of this week to help Slavesheep and his family move back to NB. Going down Thursday night, coming back Saturday. I look forward to helping and getting out of town for a few days.

On the 14th, we will be having a dual babyshower for Vicki and Juls and then a Welcome back party/Birthday party for Jared in the evening. Going to be a wild day, but honestly I can’t wait for it! Be nice to get us all together for such a fun occasion!

So as you can see busy summer. Let me post some pics for you to enjoy! Cause… I FINALLY got a new camera!!

Long weekend blues

Well the long weekend is almost over! I can’t believe it. It flew by. I did get to spend some time with friends and it was decent. I do find myself a little burnt out from last night, but I hope to recover just by having some me time this week.

Week one down of eating healthy, and I have lost 5lbs even. Can’t believe it. For about two months I went completely off the rails but due to the previously mentioned tummy troubles I had to jump back on the wagon. Honestly I haven’t felt better about it. My body did the talking and I listened.

After losing 50lbs… it’s a mental block to get passed anything. But I think I realize the bigger picture now.

This week promises to be busy work wise. Outside of work, I want to get some walking in and perhaps a bit of creative writing. I’ve been thinking of a few ideas for some creative writing projects and I really need to take the time to put into them. I remember when I used to crank the tunes, sit at my computer for hours and write and write and write…that doesn’t happen anymore. In part I think it’s because I don’t have a proper desk for my computer… which prevents long periods of sitting at it (this is good and bad).

Maybe I need to revisit how my space is laid out and what I can do to improve it.

On that note, I am off to enjoy this beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Happy Birthday Canada!

Today has been nice. I went uptown with G to take in the flea market. I was able to pick up some more of those delightful mini candles that I bought from Rach last fall. The vendor was there with more options! Yum! They smell so good.

I went to the Dr yesterday. She gave me some meds for my stomach problems, however last night of course don’t I have them and tada pills don’t work. So it’s proving that I need to eat NO Cheese, NO onions and NO fried foods. Other than the onions, I could likely manage. Oh well, I’ll try to make it through with the bland food for awhile and hope to cleanse out my gallbladder because in essence I’m certain that’s the issue. Either way, I don’t like it and I just hope to heck it doesn’t mean me… in a hospital for any time at all. I hate hospitals, even when they are for my own good.

Turned out to be a quiet afternoon, which is alright with me. I’ve been tired because I’ve been up a few nights with these stomach issues. So I curled up with a book and then had a nap!

I’m on vacation tomorrow, going to babysit Robert in the morning not too sure about the remainder of the day. Either way I’m going to enjoy it and do something I want to do. Maybe even a bit of shopping.

I want to go see Eclipse again… hoping I can coax someone into it.

Hope everyone had a great Canada Day!

Full moons and blonde moments

Trying to keep up with blogging might be more fun soon. I’m on the hunt for a new point and click camera. Have an idea of what I want, but would like to shop around first.

Summer is here, and it’s been nice since April, I hope that means it’s going to be nice through to the fall… with little rain and lots of rays. I can hope.

Work had a short lull and since then I have been crazy busy. Trying to stay organized when I have 10 tasks coming at me from all directions is difficult but it’s also been a lesson in learning to delegate work to others. I don’t like doing it, but it’s a fact of the workplace. Or so I’m told.

I have an extra long weekend ahead. I took Friday off which means I only work three days this week, and have a 4 day weekend. Looking forward to the extra downtime. No big plans, but looking forward to having some fun during that time. Hopefully I will decide on a new camera before then!

July is shaping up to be quite busy. Between the holiday weekend, Weddings and Slavesheep and family moving it’s going to make the time fly.

Moondagger, Fur and I are going to see Eclipse in a midnight showing on Tuesday night, then I have a Dr’s appointment on Wednesday morning… then I’m off to work. Yeah, I’m a sucker. Oh well, then I’m off for 4 days. Tee hee.
